    I have been giving this issue some thought again. I noticed that the last detailed e-mail came out in Nov 2022.

    Naming of Trophies;

    They should be named after Life Members if there is no other option. This is because there is a history some where about life members. (on a different note it would be great if our web site had a “history”section which gave an out line of our life members).
    There will be situations like the Geoff Doyle Cup where some one does something outstanding and deserves the name. But how does that name stay relevant in 10 yrs if he isn’t shown in our history?
    The same would apply to cash contributions, sponsors etc. In the case of sponsors that would be rescinded at the end of the sponsorship logically.
    Hence I believe we should have a 10 yr review period for any trophy name. In the case of a life member I think we should be very reluctant to change it unless we wanted to move two life members around (if a life member from 50 yrs ago was not really known to any one perhaps he could be swapped with another life member if the award was prestigious enough)
    In the case of non life members we do need to put in writing why the decision was made – outstanding effort, cash contributions, etc.

    Trophies

    This is an ongoing issue which needs annual review. We have added and deleted grades and added competitions. Some of the Trophies are over rated – the highest points for the yr is won by the worst “graded” team? Some trophies are in one comp and not another.

    So to move this I suggest we have a 3 mane sub committee to put suggestions forward on all the above. Don’t waste time at Committee level. I would suggest Jim as it has been his baby, I am happy to be one as I am also quite interested. And we need one more.
